"Tru-Blu Rockstar"
Dick Johnson's Tru Blu Ford Falcon XD in the accident that took him out of the 1980 Bathurst 1000 and made him a household name.
At the exit of The Cutting, making his way around a rescue truck on one side of the track, Johnson hit the now-infamous rock in the middle of the track at Mount Panorama.
His car destroyed, and the future of Dick Johnson Racing in doubt immediately after the accident, a national appeal for public donations followed, with Edsel Ford (who was in Australia on business at the time) pledging that the Ford Motor Company would match them dollar-for-dollar.
A legendary episode in the history of Australian motorsport.
Original painting, acrylic on canvas, size approximately 915mm x 710mm.
