Season's Greetings from Greg McNeill Art

Many thanks to DJR Team Penske for using my artwork on their official Christmas card for 2018, their Drivers Championship-winning year.

The card features detail from an original painting, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Dick Johnson's Australian Touring Car Championship, with the 1988 Ford Sierra as well as DJRTP's Ford Falcon FGX.

NEW WORK: Original Painting - "Tru-Blu Rockstar" - Bathurst 1980 - Dick Johnson, Ford Falcon XD

"Tru-Blu Rockstar"

Dick Johnson's Tru Blu Ford Falcon XD in the accident that took him out of the 1980 Bathurst 1000 and made him a household name.

At the exit of The Cutting, making his way around a rescue truck on one side of the track, Johnson hit the now-infamous rock in the middle of the track at Mount Panorama.

His car destroyed, and the future of Dick Johnson Racing in doubt immediately after the accident, a national appeal for public donations followed, with Edsel Ford (who was in Australia on business at the time) pledging that the Ford Motor Company would match them dollar-for-dollar.

A legendary episode in the history of Australian motorsport.

Original painting, acrylic on canvas, size approximately 915mm x 710mm.

Original painting SOLD.

10 Days of Bathurst: highlights from the Greg McNeill Archive - Day 10

10 Days of Bathurst: highlights from the Greg McNeill Archive - Day 9

Bathurst 1977 will always be remembered for the one-two formation finish of team mates Allan Moffat and Colin Bond in their Ford XC Falcons.

My painting depicts the pair on Conrod Straight during the final lap.

The 1970's graphic livery on the Moffat Ford Dealer Team's Falcons lends itself to the Pop Art style.

The perfectly-executed race strategy was a total team effort by DJR Team Penske.

After starting Race 2 from 13th on the grid, a fantastic first stint on the tight and difficult circuit by co-driver Alex Premat combined with a stellar drive by McLaughlin to confound their rivals and put the Shell V-Power Racing Team into the lead.  They used every drop of fuel in the car to take a historic victory.
